How to get to Merida Hot
To get to Mérida you have two options, you can get there by air or by road.
By plane, it’s takes about 40 minutes from Caracas Maiquetía airport. You will get to the airstrip close to Mérida city, surround by the huge snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada National Park, a very impressive experience.
There are two main options to get to Mérida by road:You can take the Trasandina route, which carries through the páramos (highs hills), passing beside the Pico Águila, the highest point in the Venezuelan highway system, within 4,007 meters over the sea level, you’ll find along all the way beautiful towns and panoramic sights, but also hairpin turns; so this is the esthetic choice.
The other option is to take the modern and big highway from el Vigía, very fast and direct option. You’ll find a smooth pavement from el Vigía straight ahead to Ejido, a small town nest to Mérida city, from here you take a taxi to down town.
