A Posada is a place where travelers can find food, drink and accommodation. It all began when the Romans built their famous system of highways some thousands years ago. Therefore, some posadas in Europe are centuries old. In Venezuela, and specifically in Merida you find these authentic establishments which accommodate most travelers here, the Posada offer various types of services, all-inclusive accommodation, half board, some offer tours, excursions, activities performed in the area close by. In recent years due to the rise of eco-tourism lodges in Merida are adapting environmental policies, which aim to promote activities to protect the environment, involving the visitors in the protection of the environment and sustainable travel.
